An strange day

That morning I got up early. I went to the bathroom to take a shower. After that I ate some biscuits with a glass of milk. You could see the darkness of the street across the windows. The street was empty; everybody was sleeping at this time. While I was walking to my car I could heard my own footstep.

When I arrived to the airport it was different. There were a lot of people running and chatting. My plane had to leave the city two hours later. I came to my window to board. While I was waiting in the queue I saw a man in my same line that reminds me somebody known. After a while I realized that was my best friend when I was a child.

We were very friends but his parent changed his job and they left the city. We haven’t met another time from that moment. I don’t know the reason but I didn’t say anything to him.

I came to my meeting. During the dinner with my colleagues, I can’t forget the situation. When I arrived to my hotel I wrote a letter to my parents asking why the life transforms the people, why the people only think in work and why the people can live a lot of time without showing their feelings.

Bruce Springsteen, "The Boss"

Bruce Springsteen was born on twenty-fourth September in 1949. His hometown is Freehold a little village in New Jersey. When he was a teenager his guitar and he were the big troubles at home.

Springsteen played in little pubs near the coastline, the Stone Pony in Asbury Park was one of them. In his first album, “Greetings from Asbury Park”, he made a tribute from this place. This album and the second album were not successful at this moment, but when Springsteen recorded “Born to run”, in 1975, a lot of people discovered these two albums. The next albums made that Springsteen will be one of the most knowledgeable musicians in the world.

Moreover than music, Springsteen is a person with ideals and he never has broken this. An example is when Ronald Reagan offered him a lot of millions to use the song “Born in the USA” like his jingle in an election, and how Springsteen didn’t agree with this politician not allowing him to use this song. Another example was some years ago when he played against the war at Iraq war. Some people in USA critic him for this reason. I think that he don’t think about people opinion, he ever try to support that facts in that he believe.

In this moment, he also is one of the biggest musicians in the world, in the last tours more than 3 million of people have enjoyed with him.

‘The departed’ (Infiltrados)

Last Saturday I went with some friends to the cinema. We watched ‘The departed’. This is the last Scorsese’s film. Jack Nicholson, Leonardo di Caprio and Matt Damon are the main characters. Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin have a secondary character too.

Leonardo di Caprio and Matt Damon are Bill and Colin. Both of them live in the South of Boston. When Colin was a boy, he knew Mr. Costello, Jack Nicholson, the most dangerous gangster of the neighbourhood. Mr. Costello encouraged Colin to be a policeman and he gets to be a very important investigator. While he is a policeman he helps Mr. Costello in his business.

On the other hand, Billy is a young policeman too but without a successful career. He is a lonely policeman without family or responsibilities. They ask him to introduce himself in the team of Mr. Costello to try to catch him. The story is about how both young men fight to get their goals: one helps Mr Costello and the other to finish with him.

The film is very long, 150 minutes, but it’s very entertaining. It has ingenious dialogues. What’s more all the actors do a perfect work. I enjoyed a lot with the soundtrack too. I think that is the best film that I‘ve watched in the last four or five years. I agree with all the people who say that it’s worth watching this film.

Policy and popular people

On Tuesday Nuria show us a song of Neil Young from the web page youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4kTnP5VJ1k). In this song Neil Young explain different actions and lies from George Bush’s government.

Do you agree that popular people show their opinions? There are a lot of people in USA that have done it recently: Sean Penn, Bruce Springsteen, Susan Sarandon, REM, John Fogerty, … and a lot in the past: Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez… Here there are some too.

I agree that musicians explain their opinions in their songs or in interviews. I think that is good than not only politicians show ideas about wars, racism or terrorism. What’s more, I think that a good song could be better if have a good message.

A lot of people think that they do it to sell more, but I think that for this people could be bad. For example, Columbia received a lot of Bruce Springsteen’s long plays and compact disc when he played in favour of John Kerry some months ago.

In conclusion, I think that is good that popular people take a position in reference with the problems around the world.

Could you change your feelings about an actor or actress because of their opinions?

Catalans

In general people think that Catalans are mean and serious. On the other hand people know that Catalans like going to the theatre or to concerts. Related to business, Catalans are known as hard-workers, very efficient and good sellers. What’s more Catalans like eating well, enjoying with sports and travelling around the world.

Personally I think that people from other places look up a little Catalans, because a lot of times we are successful in business or in sports. For this reason, they tell that we are mean and boring to avoid talk about our outcomes. In my opinion, I don’t think that we are mean because for example when you travel find Catalans around the world. Also every night in Catalonia there are a lot of people in the cinemas, in the theatres or in the expensive restaurants.
